Default Installing a Horn

Hello everybody. I wanted to install a horn on my '74 IH/cub 1000 series. I didn't know if anyone had ever tried that before or if it is even possible? Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated. Also if you have done it before, if you could let me know where you mounted everything that would be great. Thank you, Chris

It is possible, but you can't put the button on the steering wheel, because it could interfere with the air-bag.

Hehehe....

He's my question........... WHY??? Why do you need a horn? Do that many people or animals jump in front of you while mowing your yard, or whatever you do with your cub? If so, you might want to think about a seat belt too.

I once put a ooga horn on a tractor.... easiest way is go to autozone or similar place and get a universal horn button. Use a fused link from the positive side of the battery (or solinoid if you prefer) run it to the button then to the horn.Hook the negitive to a good ground..... but I have to ask. Why (mine was my mud mower back when I was younger)

You ask why a horn, others may ask you why a "mud mower" Lol

I ask "Why not?" It would be fun for kids and such.

I would think a regular single tone automotive horn would fit under the seat with the battery if you trimmed the "horn" part down a little. Hit the junk yard and find something that fits. Mount a switch to the underside of the seat springs and have a "stealth" install. Or just mount the horn under the seat too.

Not so good of a idea. You are not suppose to be drinking adult beverages while operating equipment.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
