You guys are missing the boat here.

I just want a top link like the one furnished with this 3 point w/PTO. Maybe somebody has a used link they will sell to me.

I'm not interested in a cobble job. I'm looking for the right parts.
That says it all boys. If it wasn't made by MTD, it isn't going to work. Welding, drilling, all that is O-U-T, OUT!

A/C was looking for one on his 982 when he had it too.

Here is what they look like. Not very heavy duty at all and it looks like this one will break soon too.

I just got one from Aaron at Xtreme Motorworks.

He doesn't have them listed on his website yet. Just contact him and he can make one up.

Lot of wasted horsepower on something pretty easy to obtain...

Yours isn't OEM. Someone made it. Don't know where you got it, but the pic you posted is not the one made by CCC.

The one Todd (Oak) posted a pic of is correct. Little piddly-ass crimp-on end on the threaded rod. It was threaded on and crimped so it didn't unscrew. That's OEM. No welds.

Here we go again. Here's a picture of an OEM part and a used part off IH Cub Cadet Warehouse. Which is the same as the one I have ( in middle) except the nut on the one side of mine was stripped so I removed it and welded another nut on to it and repainted it and put a new end and jam nuts on. I also have 4 others that came on 4 different tractors from 4 different places over many years that all have the same design. Obviously the small end is new but is as close to original as your gonna get and is the same as the one in the used one at IHCCWH. As usual you know more about my stuff than I do and I guess IHCCWH is selling Knock offs. I'm guessing the Russians are involved. My repairs might not be up to your standards but it is OEM

Whatever you say Charles. You know it all. :beerchug:

Hope you can sell him one so he doesn't have to make one.
