My question is, why does the other half in this equation get away with everything without repercussion? Free range to banter and banter until they break, then laugh as they get banned? Pretty sad with all that knowledge, has no people skills whatsoever...................:bigthink: :beatdeadhorse: |
I missed it all......and I am not "sorry" for it. Somehow, we have lost sight of what makes this forum so good--guys (and some gals) talking about tractors. I read all of the posts to this thread and remembered my posts to JW's two posts when he was allowed to come back. My experience told me that not enough time had passed for maturity to take place and history would repeat itself, but that is neither here nor there.
Now, what I see is people taking sides and polarizing the situation. I have dealings with people of all ages on a regular basis since it is part of my work and as soon as they feel you are attacking them instead of their behavior, then they take the defensive position as kind of a self preservation. Well, no one needs a psychology lesson here, but I do want to warn everyone against taking sides as that will only divide us. After all, it is never a question of who is right, but what is right. Whenever you point the finger at someone, remember that there are 3 fingers pointing back at you. Mods, do what you need to do since I don't want to be a mod and you do, besides, you are better at it than me. :beerchug: Education's purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open mind.....just not so open that everything falls out. :biggrin2: I figure, if you ban me then you must have a good enough reason to do so and the sun will still rise and set. Sorry....this is way longer than I had planned. Aldous Huxley said, "Experience isn't what happens to a man. It is what a man does with what happens to him." May we all grow from this experience and get back to talking tractors and helping each other. Cub Cadet 123 |
I agree with most every post in this thread in one way or another on both sides.
I am grateful for the Moderators and Administration on this site.. they don't get paid and have to deal with a wide range of crap.. Thank you for what you do! It has to be a very difficult job. I am grateful for all the members here.. as a whole it's a great group of people who are just trying to have fun and help people.. Lets all get back to talking about Cub Cadets and helping each other out.. That's what brought us all together to start with.:beerchug: |
Amen, let's get back to cub cadets !
|
i agree that its not all the kids that cause problems,i have alot of respect for the younger generation who are interested in this rather then there smart phone. i try to help others with my replies to there problems, yet certain people feel the need to try and make me look stupid. i have been a master auto tech for over 35 years and can fix most anything. i,m not claiming i know everything, but just trying to share my knowledge. if any of you want too see some amazing young talent go poke around the All Terrain Lawn Tractor Forum. i have seen alot of young talent there, which gives me hope not all kids are troublemakers. for now i will not be replying to posts because of the negative replies i received. i,m 51 years old,and i do not need or want to be treated like a fool.certain people need to act there age,not there shoe size. I'm going to disagree with the previous poster's suggestion to "keep my trap shut". If it's wrong it's wrong, and things must be called what they are, even at the risk of offending someone. People take offense at the truth all the time, that's why we have political correctness. Then they get angry, irrational and loud. You stand on principle or your fall, simple as that. For every person that's complaining there's probably 10 others that have benefited from getting the right information, and another 50 that will hit the forum off google in years to come looking for a resolution to their problem that will also benefit. It's what makes this place great. Hope you and the other mods continue doing what you're doing, I and many others appreciate the time you selflessly take from your day to help others with their hobby. |
I'm all for thinning the herd....
Let FB have them.........or let them 'tweet" each other and their current feelings... |
Don't worry the herd is thining itself.
This is the most micro-managed site I have ever seen Ask yourselves why over half the responses are from moderators themselves at this point. The Moderators and some of these same senior members that have posted in this thread have this condesending Know-it- all attitude toward its own members. I have personally witnessed these same gurus telling people patently false information. A flooding carb does not cause an engine to run bad or gas to leak out the carb Add laquer thinner to Akyld Enamel Points dont cause an engine to run bad. These engines require tighter tolerances than other engines. lol ON and ON My very first post I was attacked trying to help a guy like I did not know what I was talking about, I was right and was never apologied by the people here or thanked by the guy I helped. I rarely post anything and anymore and I certainly do not try to help anymore. I seen how Justin was treated and if you do not see a problem with that, then you are the problem. I dont claim to know everything and the man who does can't learn But I have made my living working as a A&P mech on Lycoming and Continental six cylinder versions of this same aircooled type engines but they leave the ground. I don't really need to ask anyone how to repair a lawnmower at this point. I might get banned for this post but its not the end of the world life goes on. But if you guys are smart you will listen to what it looks like from someone new showing up. Its your site, you are going to get what you put into it out the other end. Sorry I I stepped on a toe but Im just calling it as I see it. |
While I agree that some responses are a little harsh I really have no issue with what happened to Justin. What some of you may not know is he didn't even own a cub, he was a wheel horse guy and he admitted the only way he'd own a cub is if someone gave it to him. So what was he doing here? I think he was a troll looking to start problems.

Well I know I'm new but I thought some might want to know what a new person thought. I've read all the threads and posts, and re-read all of it (before I became a member) and I guess I'm just an old fart that likes to say his two cents so here it is. Personally I think that, even though he was somewhat wrong, to me it looked like there was certain people that started it and fueled the fire, and he was trying to defend himself. Because he sure didn't have a lot of support, and I wish I was here sooner. But it looked like some people were purposefully getting Justin mad, which to some would make him look bad and so others would want him gone. Now the one thing I've just never figured out, is why where you guys being rude to him? (again in my eyes) If it was because he was saying wrong stuff, then instead of making a 3 page "pi$$ing match" just delete the posts that he made and tell him why they were deleted nicely, and move on. But if it was because you just "hated" him (not saying anyone was) but then you should be ashamed. You don't even know the kid, and I doubt many people even talked to him (called him I mean) or wanted to for that matter. He may be a kid but they will understand, you just have to show them love. I know I don't listen to many people if they are rude. But, before I retired I worked with a lot of young men and women, and even though there are times were you just want to start yelling, you have to remember they are young, and I'm sure we all remember our pasts. But show them love, show them love. Please, stop being rude, because in my eyes you were being rude.
But that's all I got to say, I got my "old fart two cents" out. :beerchug: Sorry if I offended anyone, I did not intend to, but I had to say what I said, whether you agree or not. Thanks - Travis |
To me he seems like an insecure kid and wanting attention like a lot of us in out youth, I personally tried to give him helpful answers.
We had a couple of pm's back/forth, and I gave him Gr. fatherly advice. The thing that interests me is usually young ppl who like mechanical things are not "bad" kids like intercity gang types with no parental supervision or respect for human life. I sure hope he finds a good mentor who he looks up to and can put him on the path to success. |

The thing is he did not follow the rules that keep this forum from turning into Facebook or something like that. He was kicked out before and given a second chance but still did not follow the rules. If he wanted a multi brand multi topic garden tractor page there are several of those out there. I might not agree with every rule this or other pages have but I abide by them because I am a guest of the operators of the board.
Being a mod on one of these boards can be a big pain in the rear especially if you are constantly dealing with the same problems over and over. Maybe things could have been handled differently but how many chances do you give a person before you make a decision for the betterment of the whole group. |

I just hope all the BS stops and this forum gets back to where it is supposed to be. I agree with most on this thread that it needed to come to a focus; it just ceases to amaze me what drives some to act they way they do. Guess I was brought up differently to respect not to ridicule! Tough one to hang you hats on, but hopefully it will get better.

I am DONE.

I had an awesome day, worked on my 1641 grass killer since I sold my last Super. I didn't pay any attention to what was happening on OCC, just did my own little thing. Just checked in and found 3 guys that are asking for answers to simple problems that I could have answered but I ignored all 3 because the "Mods post too much" you guys that have all the answers better get with it and answer the questions, your slacking off. Man this not sitting here worrying about helping other members is the best. Gotta go now cause it's cocktail hour. :beer2::beerchug::beer2::beerchug::biggrin2:

The people that need to listen do not. They are "not at fault" because they cannot see past their nose, it is to high up in the air. The "Good Ole Boys" have spoken. They won. They will always win. They are in charge. They run everything. They stick together and only defend themselves. They are never wrong. Everything they do is correct and "best for everyone". I am not "everyone". I am 1. The same members are allowed to run freely, doing and saying as they please. Do any of you notice the same members saying the same things over and over on this thread? Defending themselves. They were not at fault. Only the accused was at fault. They did nothing wrong. The Good Ole Boys are right there backing them up. Being here since 2011 means nothing. No loyalty to "long term" members. I do not have 1000, 2000, 5000, 9000, 12000+ posts. I am no one. I came out of the shadows yesterday and spoke my mind. Some of you listened and understood. The Good Ole Boys did not. They are better than any of us. They always will be. They were at no way at fault for anything. Today will end the OCC chapter of my life as a poster. Hopefully some of you will look down past your noses and realize who you are stepping on. One day you may clean out your ears and listen yourself. You do seem to do a lot of talking about others not listening. Maybe you should stop talking long enough to listen to someone else that does not have the same sounding voice as you do. I am guessing you never will. The story always sounds better if it is your mouth telling it. After I "submit reply", I will log off as Hand_108 and shall not return. Hope they Good Ole Boys are happy. Sincerely John J. Hand............................. |

Your Dad will never let you get your hands on that 2182, he's just going to look at you with your 1782 and laugh. Sorry bud but it is what it is. He has the Big Dog in the shed and you just have the puppy. Don't hate me I warned you. :beerchug::beerchug: |

That being said, I think this is ALL blown WAAAYY out of proportion. Justin is not the innocent young lost wayward soul some believe him to be. This is the INTERNET. People like him are called trolls. He had 2 (maybe three, lost count) chances here. People like Justin post to create drama because it entertains them. Plain and simple. The mods gave him a chance, he didn't follow the rules, and got banned. He came back, begged for another chance, and got it. Then he blew it, again. So he got banned, again. Now he MAY be back again, don't know for sure yet. But the point is, he does this to get at all of us! This thread here is a testament that what he wants, he got! We are all taking sides, MOD's are backing out of posting, some guys are taking his side, some are taking the MOD's side, and we are divided. He's sitting at home laughing about all this because we are playing into him. If this was most other sites out there, he would have gotten chewed up and spit out. But this is OCC: members here TRIED and he kept coming back to rile us up and guess what? IT WORKED, and with this thread, it is still working. So let's drop this all, move on, and ALL of us look past our own respective noses and continue with the Cub postings we are all here about. If you leave over this "drama", have opinions, etc: post them or don't, but don't punish everyone else here by taking sides, leaving, taking sides, etc. Just DROP IT and MOVE ON. We're all adults, aren't we? Yessh guys, come on! Now, let's carry on with our Cubs :beerchug: |

Other moderators/administrators would do well to follow your example. All I'm gonna' say. |
Mods have nothing to apologize for. Not one bit.
We all are guests here and we all clicked the I Agree button to get in. If the scenery is not up to par, it is no ones fault. Got probs with a good ol boy, pm him or suck it up or leave. The young lads also clicked the I Agree button but felt this site should bend to their "constitutional rights" as one of them put it very eloquently in a pm to me. It does not. Have no allusions this site is anything but an Internet forum and community, it is not a democracy not do any have voting rights. Leave, stay whatever. Friends come, freinds go. Life goes on. Drama is life, life is drama. |

I've only got over 12000 posts but guys like cowdiddly with 20 know way more than I'll ever know. I'm sure he could figure out how to re-power a Euclid R27 that had an obsolete Detroit Diesel 6-110 with a custom built Cummins 350, or rebuild an Allis Chalmers 436 cone crusher that the factory said was beyond repair. I could go on and on. Reality check we are dealing with Garden tractors, not rocket science. I honestly don't care anymore, later guys. |

Like it or not I have to agree with Ryan in post #73 . I used to belong to a powerstroke Facebook page and a cub crazy Facebook page and (trolls) ended it for me. I'm not leaving OCC. It got wayyyyyyyyy out of hand on there! But anyhoo I think the mods do a great job on here. Jon in particular reminds me of my instructor at tech school. He was a no nonsense kind of guy and if you acted up or did something that was uncalled for he'd call you on it or have a snappy come back to put you in your place!lol anyways I think jw was trying to ruffle feathers and he did. I wanna thank all the mods for doing a great job, I'm sure it's a difficult job to do. You can't make all the people happy all the time!
|
I'd say that anyone who wanted to share their views here have done so. If this drags on, it just adds to the "drama".
It's time to move on........Please lock this thread. |
