Is there a list of good Super GT models?

I'm trying to help a friend find a good CC.

I own a 1650.. and know nothing about newer stuff. He would like a box or blade and needs a mower deck. Preferably a large deck.

We are in north Texas if anyone here knows of a good tractor.

He has 3.5 acres to cut. Maybe he needs something bigger than a cub.

3 and a half acres is enough to keep him busy for a while. Just my 2 cents, a Super with a 60" Haban and a Swisher 60" tow behind whould be my weapon of choice. I cut 15 acres twice a year with a Kubota BX 2660 with a 60" finish mower and two 60" Swishers behind that so it cuts 12' at a pass.

Maybe you should get one of these Sam..... Only one engine that way!! :biggrin2::biggrin2:

On a separate note: I think a SGT would be more than adequate. If I'm going to mow 3 acres, I'd prefer a front mount ZTR mower, but you can't put a box blade on them! :biggrin2::biggrin2: All supers are good. Sam likes the "one eyed" ones ;)

I'be got you on the Cyclops ...

What models are one eyed besides a 982?

I'm not sure what you mean on the first half.... But the Cyclops is what I was referring to as "one eyed"... 982's have 2 headlights, they are not a cyclops. Sam Mac's avatar is a cyclops....

Sam Mac likes Cyclops, but, not enough to keep them all!! :bigthink:

There are a couple BIG plus' to a wider deck

One is in error of driving. The amount you overlap and loose each pass is a bigger percentage on a small deck. It seems like a 60" deck cuts twice as fast as a 44" deck. That is hard to believe, until you experience it!!

Maybe it is the power steering, steering brakes, and more HP!!

An even bigger plus is the even result of cutting with a wide deck. I have one deck that is bigger than 60", it makes the grass look like a pool table. The smaller deck dips into EVERY hole/depression. The big deck passes right over. SMOOTH!! :biggrin2:

Thanks for that listing Sam Mac! That kind of stuff is very helpful to some of us newer guys.

Thanks...

I really want to lead him down a good road. Last night I seethe is a 982 forezale close w 54 deck. Says recently rebuilt motor...

It takes me 2hr to do a sloppy job o. One acre w my 1650 and 44a. Maybe I should mark the deck to know where the overlap starts.

It is marked!! :bigthink: On the decks with the loops, the loops are the marks.

From what I have seen the 60" Haban deck is far superior to any of the Cub Cadet decks until you get up into their modern commercial grade ZTR mowers. A few weeks ago I bought a clean two owner (with all the paper work going back to when it was bought new) 2182 with the 60" Haban deck and I am very impressed with it. There is another Cyclops SGT up the street with a smaller deck and it's possible their blades are very dull or they mow at warp speed but I don't think I could make my Haban mow that bad if I tried. If I had a bigger yard to mow I think I would pick up another Haban deck to make into a pull behind mower to double my mowing width.

I love the Haban style decks and they are pretty much bullet proof, just make sure you keep it greased. I’ve seen way too many of them that the wheels were not greased and you can spend some big $$$$ replacing the wheels and front casters if you don’t grease them. Also make sure you adjust the lift so that the deck rides on the wheels and not on the lift frame when you are mowing or you will kill the lift frame.:beerchug:
