442 Tiller acquisition!
4 Attachment(s)
Sorry guys it took me so long to get this on here... too many things going on! Anyway, I picked this up over the Thanksgiving weekend... got an excellent deal on it!! :biggrin2:
The PO of course messed up the shaft so I managed to pull things apart and see what I have. In the process messed up the spider gear but hopefully that won't be too expensive. The question is... do I need to have the 13/8" piece of shaft welded back on the the existing shaft or is there enough shaft left that I could use what I have?:bigthink: :confused2.gif" |
Need to see the shaft laid out in line in the order that it goes together and also what you are calling the "Spider Gear" I think your talking about a U-joint cross? :bigthink:

Glad you got the tiller, Darrell!

This may answer some of your questions about PTO shafts.
http://www.mytractorforum.com/showth...o+shaft+length Granted they are talking about 540 RPM shafts but the idea is pretty much the same. Keep in mind that if the shaft is too long it can damage something and if it's too short it can come apart. |
I have a Cat 0 tiller with all the correct items. Let me know if I can help in any way. Also check TSC as they have a wide variety of PTO items.

depends what tractor you put it on you may want to change the one yoke any way if it has the original small drive line they don't service those the next size up they do same as most lawn and garden small compact size pto shafts we have a shop near here that fixed me up for my 4ft IH tiller when one of the caps was off
|
Well from looking at his signature I would bet it would be goinig on a Cub Cadet Super of some sort...? (But I may be wrong he may have a green one lurking in the shadows)...

Hey guys thanks for all the help!!:High5: I will be putting the tiller on a super... just don't have it yet... :Shhhh: My 1572 has the rear plate for the PTO drive, it just doesn't have it installed (never has and probably never will). If I can get it started, I'll hook it up and see how things look... I put the shaft back together without welding the little piece back on but I kept it just in case... Anyway, I'll report back with how it looks... :beerchug:

there is 2 sizes of pto drive line made one seems to be a manufacture only as its not serviced by after market or at least not found by me the other is the smaller size that is serviced by after market is still smaller then like a farm tractor 540 pto drive line which is close to 1 inch in the square hope that clears it up some

I found a company named Weasler , that has pto parts . Not anything for the stock tiller pto that I have but all the parts I need to build a complete new shaft using series 6 parts. The series 6 is a comand size and you can find parts at about any place that sales pto parts . :beerchug:

TSC has that brand....It is also what JD used for the 318-420 stuff..
