QA backhoe
3 Attachment(s)
as some of you may know, i have a 1772 with a KW loader and backhoe. i was thinking it would be nice if i could take this backhoe off when im not using it without spending 2 hours unbolting 8 fasteners, disconnecting 4 hoses and then blocking it all up. i came up with this quick attach mounting set up. i like how the Kubota QA worked, so i took some ideas from that. i actually had 80% of the materials on hand, so that helped out the wallet. the only parts i had to buy were the hydraulic quick connects and 2 clevis mounts. the bottom of the mount sits in 2 "J" hooks and the top mounts with 2 3/4" pins. it was a bit tricky to get everything lined up so the pins would just slide right in without a hammer. lots of tack welding, testing, and grinding. took me the whole month of January but finally i got it. here's a few pix of the fab work and a video demo of the QA setup.

Cool set up :beerchug:

Sweet setup and real good shots of your work on your video!! You've done some really smart fabrication there.

cool idea only thing I change is I make tapered pins to make lineup alittle easier
|
Top notch work, and great vid, Ken!

Very cool setup!:beer2:

thanks!
yes, tapered pins would help. i might just take the pins i had and put them on the lathe and taper the ends down. good idea! thanks. |
Slick!! That makes things alot easier. Nice work.

Looks good!! Need a few vids of that thing doin work!
|
i can make a video of it working. might have to wait till all this snow is gone so i can find the dirt again.

I hoping to get to build my backhoe this year have PF engineering's plans I already have a kwikway loader but see if the money comes though
|
Ken what size is your rear tires?
|
Good job Ken!! My only question, what took you so long to get it set up like that! LOL! I'll say it again, GOOD JOB!
Question: Where did you get, or what model/brand of backhoe is that? Also, are you running a PTO driven hydraulic pump, and where is the reservoir? |
Nicely done! I like it. But rather than tapering the pins, which would give you a loose fit and potentially a wear issue, I'd weld locating angled tabs on the arms, so that the BH's rings would settle into a "corner" of the angled tabs at just the right location to achieve alignment. That's actually how the QA works on my Kubota BX23 loader. The kubota's QA on the BH has a more complicated arrangement for the upper pins.

the hydraulics run off the kwik-way loader pump and the reservoir is in the uprights of the loader. |
