Help I need an electrician for truck lights
 

I'm trying to put led lights on my flatbed Nissan. My problem is I'm supposed to hook up the brake wire to the blinker wires but there is only one brake wire and it won't work that way. It works like emergency flashers when a blinker is on.

Are you replacing the tail lights with LED's? Or adding lights to the system.....:bigthink:

Did you convert this to a flatbed? What type of lights are you replacing? Factory or trailer type lights? You may need a trailer light converter. Also leds won't flash correctly with a standard flasher, due to the low current draw.

I'm replacing trailer lights. It is homemade. Will this converter make the brake, running and blinkers work.? It was set up before for just brake and turn signal but was not bright because the brake wire was attached to the running light wire.

If it's trailer lights, usually you'll have left turn signal/brake light and right turn signal/brake light. The turn signal feeds also are feeds for brake lights. You probably won't find a straight up brake light feed.:beerchug:

I think you need an adapter. You car has separate brake/turn signal lights.
They make a trailer adapter for that application combining those separate light wires into one brake/turn wire. I would be careful trying things. You might
back-feed the system and mess something up.

Not on a Nissan. Like Calvin says below, the brake and turn signals are separate. On his truck, it does have a single feed for brake lights.


The flasher shouldn't be an issue if its just on the trailer. If eliminating light bulbs, then yes, that is true.


He won't mess anything up, except for at the most blowing a fuse. Yes, all of you who said he needs an "adapter" is correct. It's not really an adapter, it's a little box you wire in. It contains diodes so that the turn signal and brake feed can be sent to the lights without back feed.

Now, just like anything else, we need the year and make of your Nissan truck. No reason to keep guessing until you know what your working on Keith. You know the drill..... Info please!! :beerchug:

But... they are going to be the rear lights on the truck. Just having the front bulbs for the turn signals will flash fast. It may not be too fast to be a problem though.

A Nissan is a truck. A truck that he pulls a trailer with.

This is what you need to flash LED lights. It's electronic, instead of thermal.
There are several types. This is what I used on my 125 Cub that I put LEDs on.

Guys, how on earth did we go from wiring a trailer to signal flashers???

I got it fixed. I took some advice and went and got a adapter at autozone that might of been a mistake, but I wired it up temporary and it all works except it flashes too fast but I'll get a new flasher tomorrow. The truck is a 1991 Nissan D21 that's been modified a little. I inherited from my father in law. It looks kinda rough but its only got 115000 miles on it. Its cheap on gas and hauls a lot of cub stuff.

I think I'm seeing where I'm getting lost..... Keith has a set of trailer type lights (aftermarket stuff) on his Nissan truck!... is that right?

Its almost 1 am here but I got it all cleaned up, waterproofed and all tucked in that plastic wire tubing stuff. AND THEY STILL WORK... Amazing.

Thank You for the Idea's, I was getting kinda frustrated at the whole project. Next I got to find that flasher and change it.
