Restored Ford 640
2 Attachment(s)
Here's some pics of a tractor we just finished up today, its a Ford 640 with the extremely rare Elenco 4wd system. For those that don't know my family owns a collision shop and we also restore vintage Ford tractor, I do all the paint and body work and my dad does all the mechanical work, despite a few disagreements from time to time we make a pretty good team.

Beautiful little Ford. Fabulous restoration job.
|
beautiful job, never seen a 4wd Ford.
|
wow, looks great, you guys did a great job, those 4wd systems are very rare, i think i have only seen 1 or 2 in person.
|
Nice work, Tim!! :beerchug:
I think those are the best looking Ford tractors ever made. The 4WD makes that one extra cool!! :biggrin2: |
That's money Tim, excellent work.
|
Beautiful job there mister! Power steering and 4WD to boot, you really have a nice piece there. Now I'm embarrassed to even admit I own a 640, I have to get to work!
|
Nice looking red belly! I should send Dad's 961 your way for a refresh. It would look sharp all painted up. :beerchug:
|
Wow that looks awsome, first I've seen the 4x4. Great work, and you get to do it with your father, everybody wins.
|
Tim:
Great job. I never seen nor knew that there was a 4WD option on those Fords. |

Most of the tractors we do are 8ns, they seem to be the most popular. Here's a pic of the 8n we have on display in our office.
|
Everybody seems to want to do the Fords. Maybe they were popular in your area. I think the biggest reason is because there were so many of them made that they are one of the cheapest tractors to restore. Virtually every part is available still.
Very nice work Tim, kudos to you guys and a job well done. |

Very nice work!

Tim
If you still have that in your shop any chance of getting some pics of the 4 wheel drive setup? Looks like it has a drive shaft coming out of the rear on the left side. Like everyone else has said awesome work. :beerchug: |

While we are on the Ford topic, I ran across this on CL.
|
The standard engine was a flathead 4 cylinder and the straight 6 and v8 were a funk conversion, we did a straight 6 a few years back for my dad and it was really powerful and sounded awesome.
|
I was thinking someone made a conversion to go to the V8's. Tim, do you remember who it was?

Tim,
Just awesome looking Ford 640! You folks do great restoration work. I just finished doing a mainly cosmetic restoration on a Allis-Chalmers WD. Like a lot of your customers this was my Uncles tractor. I have a nice 53 Jubilee that is a good working tractor too. Plus working on my dad's Allis WD right now. Amazing how much work goes into these. Thanks for posting! Regards, Chris |
Awesome job! That is a great looking tractor! I have never seen or heard of the 4wd version.
|
That 640 is so purty! I love it!:beerchug:
|
Thanks for the vid!
Now with all that snow and slop on the ground, let's see that 4wd put to work! :biggrin2: |
