v61 Tires
 

Just wanted to share my good fortune today.
I received both sets of my V61 tires from Miller Tire, with tubes of course.
They look just as great as all those I've seen on other members tractors.

I hesitated a little because at nearly $75 a tire with tube and shipping but in the end I talked myself into getting them. I figure they'll probably be the last front tires I'll ever need for the two tractors that are getting them.
See picture. Don't they look awesome? Even if they haven't been mounted yet.

Why do they require a tube? Just wondering.

Why are you running a tube?? I thought they were tubeless. I never put tubes in mine.

Same here, I didn't use tubes in the set I had.

A bit dirty after some wet grass mowing earlier this year but no tubes here either

It's my understanding these tires are sized in metric as opposed to standard. Therefore, the sizes sold may have some size variances with the standard sized rims which may cause tires to loose air pressure. So, using tubes would eliminate this problem. I'm planning to put these tires on my GT 2000 in the fall. They looked awesome.

Only because the Miller website indicated that tubes are needed.
I sure would have saved the $50 I spent for four tubes if I knew I didn't need them.

I'm putting them on my 1440 and 1864 I think. I was going with both 1440s but the 1864 does most of the work.

I just got two of them mounted tonight. I really don't enjoy wrestling those things on by hand but I got both on.

How many pounds of air do you guys run in them. I usually put 15lbs in my fronts. Thanks.

I thought I would go to Miller Tire to check it out again and it does indicate that these tires are tube-type tires and require a tube. Real nice blue letters too. I added the link just for your information. I really like the tire and I suppose it doesn't hurt having a tube, just $50 lighter in my pocket.

I can get a tube for about $12 at my local hardware store.

Nice looking tires, though I like the tri-rib skinnies on the front. As far as the tubes go, I run tubes in everything that I have when I put new tires on, whether or not they are tubless. My reasoning is that after owning several cubs and seeing the corrosion that takes place on the rim from the moisture in the air over time, it only makes sense if you plan to own the cub for a long time or want to sell it in good faith as a dependable machine that will last someone for a long time.

actually tubes speed up the rusting of the inside of the wheel, as you drive the tube moves around and rubs the paint off the wheel exposing the bare metal.

Yes, $12 per tube times 4 is near $50. I got 4 of them. Oh well, it's done and they work so what's not to like. As I said earlier, $50 over 15 years or so isn't too bad. All good here.

I respectfully disagree. I have seen tires removed with tubes and without tubes. The ones with tubes have looked better every single time, whereas the ones without tubes flaked off chunks of rust from the inner hub of the rim. One guy who does nothing but tire changes and has for the past 40 years told me the same thing.

And I respectfully agree with you. The reason some put tubes in the first place are because the rim is already so bad that you would never get the bead to seat without them...

I took a look at the V61's I have that are going on one of my Supers, I know they are a different size but the side wall is marked "Tubeless". What are yours marked? I only mount tires with a tube if they won't hold air without one.

Ah, I neglected to account for the 4 tires. Continue on Sir.
