The 1641 with deck
 

Picked this 1641 up today. The plastic have no cracks. It runs and drives, but the carb needs a cleaning.

In a more general question, why do so many 5-6-782s (and their newer descendants) have 44s on them? I'd think the higher hp twin cyl tractors would have 50c's or 48/54gt's on them (I realize the 48/54s weren't out until the Cyclops). I've been trying to find another 50 or 54 around here for over a year and it's hard to even find a tractor with one on it. Seems like everything is a 44, or even a lot of 38s. Any ideas? Or people buying cheap when they were new?

Perhaps early but, we just mowed earlier this week. The Cub ran and mowed like new. :Salute:

Editing this post just 'cause. The 1641 and it's 48" deck has quickly become our "go to" garden tractor.
With lots of time (retired) and grandsons eager to drive, we're over the top with maintenance.

This weekend, two of the boys are staying with me in the barn.

It has a 42 " deck on it.

smaller decks may be due to lawn size of the buyer.

I ordered some tars for the front nuttin special.

Update!!

Got the new tars mounted,had issues with the fuel delivery, drained the tank,removed,and cleaned it and the shutoff valves,gave it a bath.

Gave it a tune up and changed the filters and new wally world battery.
Somebody run into something and broke the mule drive and tweaked it.Replaced it with a better one.

How it looks so far...

The 1641 is a very nice tractor,tight turning radius and you can put a 48" on it and cut some grass.....not like those homo chepo ones

I have two 1641's one with a mower and one with a Haban sickle bar. I'm a happy camper. 1641 is a great little GT. :beerchug:

Yeah, I know. I have five or six 1641's. All of them have the 48" deck. One of them has been converted to PS with the Sunstrand. Very nice.

just because i dont really know s&*t about the newer ones, is this a cub that would have 1" axles/2pc carrier, and a super steer front axle, gt spindles??? I know where one very similar looking, albeit a parts machine, and i am looking to grab all this stuff out of it for a build...has the flapper style hydro lift handle??

also, just because no one ever answered my ? in the 169 thread....do you know how the old hobbs style hour meters get hooked up??? i have no plug and theres 2 spade terminals on the back, neither have markings...one hot one ground??? or one hot and the mounting post is ground??? i have heard both...sorry to derail, not trying to be an ass just figured you would know...thanks again
