Drive line vibration
 

I finished an engine rebuild on my 1210 and now have the tractor in service again. New iso mounts are in place, but I still have a lot of vibration campared to my 1650. I took a close look at the drive shaft connection to the engine and saw that there's about an 1/8" misalignment that make the shaft wobble. I don't recall any adjustments on the coupling. Any suggestions other than just rotating the rag joint to another position?

How does the bushing look?

Good question. The fiber disks (rag joint) look real good. That's where the connection to the engine is made. On my 1650 with a K341, I recall an actual bushing where the drive shaft contacted the engine. Not so on the 1210 with an M series engine. Maybe it's a design issue?

Nope, not a design issue...if there isn't a bushing there, there should be. See #8 inside of #7 and #13 in this drawing...

It's likely still there but has worn out and the inner part separated from the outer part. Here's what they look like:

CC charges more than $20 each for these things, so if you have multiple tractors, it makes sense to order them directly from the manufacturer for nearly 10x less.

There's one inside #13 as well, but that one is not replaceable on my 2072. I replaced both on my 2072. They are a wearable item that needs replacing from time to time.

The one inside #13 is replaceable, I just did one last night. The bushing is just pressed into the plate, it comes out very easily using a hammer and socket as a driver.

I should also mention that if you order from the company, there is a $30 minimum purchase, which comes out to 12 of these. I bought 20 just to make sure I wouldn't run out for awhile.

I'm familiar with the component from rebuilding my 1650. It never dawned on me that the bushing was missing. It wasn't there when I took it apart and the previous owner must have tossed it. I need to do some additional work on the tractor so the bushing will be installed shortly. Thanks all.
