needing some information
 

i just overhauled the 10hp on my 100 first it has a new starter generator on it and it is getting hot you cant hold your hand on it, secondly its making a clanging noise i don't think its a knock but cant be for sure i cant place where it is, i torqued the rod to 22ft lbs

Is the starter generator overcharging? Maybe the voltage reg went bad?

They do get hot after running a hour or so but check the voltage at the battery with a meter,no more than 14.2 volts or it will overcharge. That may be your PTO making that noise.Does it have the anti rattle clips?

i haven't put the front pto on yet and no there are no anti rattle clips on but it sounds like the noise is coming from the motor i just cant place it

Is it coming from your clutch,did you replace it?

Just throwing out a question, you did make sure to orient the rod correctly with the oil hole facing the cam side of the crank?

found my knocking noise i took the pan off of it a rotated the crank by hand
the piston wrist pin was moving inside the rod so i pulled the piston and my rod was bad it was a factory 10hp kohler brand part i never thought to check it because i never even looked at the rod i just wrapped it up with the crank and sent it off the get a bearing made for it. now i have to send this other rod off:bash2: should have paid more attention to my parts i guess

the insulator on the pos post isn't melted is it ? -- possible the rear bearing is dry and worn/loose or a front bearing I would pull it and check it out or have it checked before you cause costly damage
