lift pin in cast lift- what length for tiller?

A member asked me to make him a pin for his lift. "Sure, I can do that"

I went out to measure the ones on my 125 and my 122. I have two different lengths :bigthink:

I have a two hole pin with an overall length of 9-3/4" on the 125. This pin has a cotter pin on the far side of the casting and the pin floats ( rotates )

The pin on my 122 and extra cast piece have a single hole and are kept in place by a pin. They do not extend thru the casting.

What's the correct length for the tiller? :bigthink:

Would the floating double hole be better due to more adjustment available?

Thanks
Jeff

Jeff,
it shorter then a regular pin. I have a picture somewhere. I'll try to find it. If not I have a couple pins at home I could measure for ya.

Thanks Mike. That would be a big help.

I couldn't find it on my laptop. I must have it on my home cp. I'll post it for you tomorrow. I think I did post it here once already.

Here it is I found it in this post. If you want a copy sent to your email let me .
Mike

P.S. I just realized that might not be for the tiller. I'll check tomorrow for ya. The pin goes in sideways or should I say the hole in vertical.

That's the pin I have in the lift on the 125.

The shorter one is about 7-1/2" long, the 1/2" hole is 7/8" in from the end and the hole to secure it to the casting is 3-1/2" from the end.

So it's the shorter 1.
I'll measure it for you tomorrow if I get a chance.

Long one is 9-3/4" long, first hole is 3/4" from the end and the second hole is 2-1/4" from the end. The distance to the washer is 4-3/4". The cotter pin hole is 1/2" from the 1/2" hole side of the washer and the other cotter pin hole is 3/16" from the other end.

It looks like the inner hole on the long pin and the short pin have the same distance.

Ok While we are talking lift pins.
The one I got had the hole going vertical like the bolt for the tiller would go through. But for a plow: the hole has to go across so the lift bars straddle it.. So I drilled another cotter pin hole through the base of the pin to allow it to rotate 90 degrees.
Should I have different length pins for a plow and a tiller??
Regards,
Chris

What I did ( right or wrong --we'll find out ) is to use the long pin and secure it with the cotter pin on the inside (tractor ) end of the casting.

I'll put the picture up again ( click for bigger view )

You can see I have it rotated slightly for the picture. I can use it with the holes vertical or horizontal like that.
