PTO pulley
Hi, I have a 2182 and I was wondering if it is possible to replace just the pulley on my PTO. I have not removed it yet, just working from the computer looking for parts first. I dont see any replacement numbers at any of the Cub parts web sites. Anyone have a part number, or maybe its not possible to replace just the pulley. Thanks, Don

I have a clutch off my 2182 thats pretty well used up but the pulley is OK. Pretty sure the bearing could be replaced. If you need to replace the complete PTO let me know and I'll dig up the part # for you and the place I got mine from. Sam |
Thanks for the quick reply Sam. My PTO works just fine, but I think I have a pulley that is the wrong size! My pulley is 4" in diameter and I think it is supposed to be 6". I would like to just replace the pulley with the right size without the cost of a new PTO. Is it possible to replace just the pulley?
I dont see just the pulley listed for sale anywhere. Thanks, Don |
Here is the number. 759-3646. It is listed as the armature not the pulley. Just go to parts tree and look under the 1862. The early version has the small pulley the later version has the larger pulley.

At serial #821,060 and above (1992 and newer) they changed from a 4.6" pulley to a 6" pulley. If yours is built before that it may be correct. Here is mine when I took it apart to put new bearings in it.

My 2172 has the 6" pulley I got the new one from Pat's small engine plus http://www.psep.biz/store/cub_cadet_...pto_clutch.htm Reason I changed it is the bearings were on the way out and the field coil insulation was pretty well toast. :beerchug: |
My 2182 is #808XXX so it is early. So maybe the 4 1/2" pulley is correct. I was thinking this was not the right size cuz that would explain the poor performance of my 451 snowblower. Would it be better to have the 6" PTO pulley for the better rpm 's?

Sorry I can't help you on this one. I've never used a Cub snow blower. You may want to check with Matt G or Roland if they don't know I'm sure they can ponit you in the right direction. |

And his 451 blower will throw, LOL. |
Thanks for all of the info. After spending all winter trying to figure out why my blower was so wimpy, it turns out that I have an early 2182 with the 4.5" pulley. So.. the early (4.5" pulley) 2182s need the 450 blower, and later (6" pulley) 2182s need the 451 blower. We have discovered the info I've been looking for!! Thanks for all of the HELP!!
