mag 18 spec# 24585

Hi all, i have a mag 18 spec# 24585. Where can i punch in that # to find crankshaft dim. I haven't had much luck on kohlers site. I pulled the bolt from the electric clutch on front and it looks to be 1"? I would like to know dia.x length for sure and what it was spec. for. I want to put this in a 582 and use that elec.pto, or if it is 1" would the elec. pto off the briggs work on the mag 18? Thanks for any help. Mike

If its 1" shaft and you have a clutch with a 1.125" bore it's an easy fix. You just get a 1" ID X 1.125" OD bushing and some 1/4"X 5/16" key stock. McMaster Carr http://www.mcmaster.com part number 6381K18 for the bushing and 98491A137 for the key stock. Just did it on a tractor I was working on. Had to run a brake cylinder hone through the bore because it was a little on the tight side and also had to run some emery paper over the outside because it was also a little tight for the clutch bore. Then you just cut it to length and cut a slot for the keyway. :biggrin2:

M-18 Crankshaft Spec's

Cub Cadet - 24506 had a 1.125" x 2.797"

AYP - 24585 had a 1.000" x 3.562"

You could find a AYP PTO.

Roland, thanks for the cub specs. I have the ayp pto, also the one on the briggs 1" maybe i'll have a spare. Sam, great idea, i've done that on other shafts for things but never thought of a pto. Mike
