PTO will not stay engaged

Ok sports fans, I have checked this; http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/showthread.php?t=30
and that is not the issue.

If I hold the toggle in the forward postion, the PTO stays running. Upon releasing the toggle, it may stay on for a while, or it may not?

This leads me to suspect the switch itself? (I knew I should have kept that one from the 2072 I sent to Vince!:bash2::bash2:)

So I am switch shopping? Any ideas?

I have one marked on the huge internet garage sale ($19.99), but I am a little leary of buying a used one.

What do you guys think?

The skematics show (2) different switched for the 782 P/N 725-3022 ($28.00) or 925 0893 ($47.00). Naturally mine is the higher serial number and needs the more expensive switch. Will the $28.00 one work?

$25 here:

There seems to be a different wire configuration between yours and the older serial number 782's, just by looking at the tabs on the switches from the different sites, but I can't be 100% sure about that. You can google "cub cadet 925-0893", and get a bunch of hits with web sites that have them for sale.

If it is intermittent, it could be any of several things;

safety switch

clutch gap

discharged battery

loose connection (somewhere)

charging circuit

maybe even the switch!!

Find the problem before you spend the money, or you will have as many good spare parts laying around as I do!!

:biggrin2:

Check out the relay first...that usually causes this from what I've seen. Start by cleaning the connections and then check for proper function.

switch

I had the same issue with my 2072. I bought a new PTO switch. That was not the problem. I checked the seat and brake safety switch. All good as well. Then the last thing I checked was the one. It was the reverse switch on the Hydro lever. It has three connections, I had missed the third one in that OEM plug. It worked fine after that.
