Got a lead on a #2 cart
Hi all.
(forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong section, or if it violates any rules. I've looked them over and didn't find any specifically that said I can't ask what I'm asking, I hope.) I have a lead on what I think is a number 2 cart. Here is the listing: http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/grd/3473036956.html I have not seen it, and the pictures aren't great. I spoke with the owner on the phone today. He informed me that it has never had a tailgate, and does not have any rust holes through it (that he knows of.) He thinks the tires hold air, but that isn't a huge deal because I can always get tires for it (right?) I have an opportunity to get it for a decent price, and I know it'll need work (at the least, paint) What is a general ballpark price on one of these, in this condition? (it's in SE MI). Questions ensue: -How difficult is it to obtain a tailgate for it? -Does this look like a #2 IH cart? Thanks |

A good metal shop could bend you a tailgate for it

Looks like a #2 cart. Hope you get it. :beerchug:

Went and got it today. Only 25 miles away. A bit used, missing the tailgate, but a No. 2 none the less. Not any worse off than I thought, but mostly complete.
At least there is some white still on it. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ps2b0e3ff0.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...psd877e93a.jpg Got some missing here. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ps1d9a3232.jpg Needs a tailgate, and what looks like a brace. Either going to find one or have one made. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...psdb4c6bec.jpg One small dent on the fender is it. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...psa758c39e.jpg From what I've seen, wheels/tires are not originals. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ps3b7f4dc3.jpg Looks good behind the 147. It's the first thing I've pulled with it since I bought it last April. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ps45ac8d7b.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ps7293d2d1.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ps13dcf128.jpg As for the wide tires; short term, I'll keep them; increased floatation in my yard is a good thing since it likes to flood and get squishy. Long term, when I decide to restore it/really paint it nice, I might go for an original look. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ps6541cd01.jpg Best of all, it cost $20, no negotiating required. |
Congrats on your #2 cart! Glad you got it.

Looks good behind the 147 and the price can't be beat.

Nice #2 cart.
It's used, but not used up, yet! Congrats on getting it, and for that price who wouldn't? |
