Hi all.
(forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong section, or if it violates any rules. I've looked them over and didn't find any specifically that said I can't ask what I'm asking, I hope.) I have a lead on what I think is a number 2 cart. Here is the listing: http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/grd/3473036956.html I have not seen it, and the pictures aren't great. I spoke with the owner on the phone today. He informed me that it has never had a tailgate, and does not have any rust holes through it (that he knows of.) He thinks the tires hold air, but that isn't a huge deal because I can always get tires for it (right?) I have an opportunity to get it for a decent price, and I know it'll need work (at the least, paint) What is a general ballpark price on one of these, in this condition? (it's in SE MI). Questions ensue: -How difficult is it to obtain a tailgate for it? -Does this look like a #2 IH cart? Thanks

Went and got it today. Only 25 miles away. A bit used, missing the tailgate, but a No. 2 none the less. Not any worse off than I thought, but mostly complete.
At least there is some white still on it. ![]() ![]() Got some missing here. ![]() Needs a tailgate, and what looks like a brace. Either going to find one or have one made. ![]() One small dent on the fender is it. ![]() From what I've seen, wheels/tires are not originals. ![]() Looks good behind the 147. It's the first thing I've pulled with it since I bought it last April. ![]() ![]() ![]() As for the wide tires; short term, I'll keep them; increased floatation in my yard is a good thing since it likes to flood and get squishy. Long term, when I decide to restore it/really paint it nice, I might go for an original look. ![]() Best of all, it cost $20, no negotiating required.

Nice #2 cart.
It's used, but not used up, yet! Congrats on getting it, and for that price who wouldn't?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
