Plowed a garden today.
 

Had a blast. Used a 10 inch plow behind my 124 with worn 8.5 ags, a set of IH weights, and 5.5 gallons of windshield washer fluid in each tire. Only issue is I could've used a little more weight. It was all I could do to keep the land side tire from slipping but then again as far as I know this had never been plowed so it was tough.

Tried second gear but had trouble with the clutch slipping so I did almost all of it in first. I think the tractor worked me almost as hard as I worked it! Now I see why people like hydraulic lifts.

I may have plowed a bit much but this is the first time I've ever really tried gardening and I figured too much is better then not enough. Plus it was fun :biggrin2:

After a few runs I mashed down the pedal, heard a snap, and the next time I went to stop I had no clutch only brake :bigeyes: a quick look over found it was just a broken return spring that had allowed the clutch release arm linkage to slip out. Thankful it was an easy fix.

The 10'' brinly plow worked good after I got everything adjusted except the coulter was all but useless. seemed to just flex out of the way rather then cut much. Maybe it's just cause the dirt was hard. I've heard of people cutting notches in them to help with penetration and after watching it on the plow it seems like that would work great. Does anyone have any feedback on doing that? I might try to make up a notched coulter wheel to have in case I need to plow something like this again.

When i was plowing corn stalks with my 12inch brinly. I took the culter off because it wouldnt let my plow go in the ground deep enough.

Good job on the plowing. Can't do that here as about 3 inches of snow fell yesterday.

That ain't "dirt" - that is unbaked bricks!! :biggrin2:

Actually the red comes from iron in the soil, so lots of the red dirt is great garden soil.

BUT, some of it is still unbaked bricks!!
