cub 149 rpms out of control

while mowing my 149 started to climb in rpm's. i shut the tractor down and looked it over, the govenor looked ok. so, i started it up. no change. so , i shut it down again and dragged it to the garage and found the problem: the throttle butterfly screws on the throttle shaft sheared off and the butterfly was in the intake. apparently the motor ate the screws and 'exausted' them out. i ordered new kohler screws which sheared off before they tightened up. so i drilled and tapped the shaft for new bass screws i bought at the hardware store in town. blue locktite, two 11 cent screws, new gaskets, air cleaner, and a clean carburator later and the beast lives again! lawn is mown, next week garden gets tilled. i've come to the conclusion that the old cast iron kohler is worth keeping. i'd also like to thank chris westfal, of cub classics for his advice, and available parts.

They do something with those screws to keep them from coming out. I believe they stamp the bar to lock them in. Nice you got it squared away.
