Repower IH Cub Cadet 72 with Kohler K241
Here is the motor. Today I prepared it to turn white tomorrow. After this and that, I cleaned the block with cloth rag and pure toluene. Tape where the starter generator will mount, you have good ground this way. I have plenty of gasket material, and the cam cover was not cleaning up as good, so removed, have the other parts ready!

Really nice!
Be nice to do one to be a sculpture on the mantel. |
That is one CLEAN engine!

Well, all I'm hoping for is to have a clean part for the paint to stick to. She's clean,....last time we'll see it so!
p.s I'm almost sure everything else engine related is completed in CC Yellow! |
I made the first coat today. The old Kohler sucked up a lot of paint. I plan on Friday tipping the 241 over to get at the belly pan,

Sure is not pretty, but I have some other special primer for it which will roll out the red carpet for the yellow. http://i44.tinypic.com/15nugaw.jpg[/ http://i44.tinypic.com/29cng44.jpg[/ :biggrin2: |
Thanks for the update, John.

enjoying the ride!
Been busy, but not much to report. However, I'm happy with the way preparing and sealing work has gone thus far. I have now begun to take inventory of all engine related components, hunt them down, check off what I have prepared and what I need to. A lot of work is still needed to begin assembly of the Kohler K241, and I'm not sure when I will get to the yellow! But anyways, here is a up date thus far!
Beginning the first coat http://i43.tinypic.com/24wvvhf.jpg[/I Moving along, up to the second coat http://i39.tinypic.com/dbp5z6.jpg[/IM http://i39.tinypic.com/29pysk6.jpg[/I http://i40.tinypic.com/kf2kk1.jpg[/IM Governor control arm, points cover, cam cover and hardware http://i39.tinypic.com/jzxmpt.jpg[/IM http://i44.tinypic.com/358cv3q.jpg[/ Had to make a new cam cover gasket since I have all kinds of gasket material http://i44.tinypic.com/345y5qa.jpg[/ No need to hammer out gaskets. All I needed to do was apply pressure to the die and turn clock wise and the hole was cut right out! Here is another look at improvise at its finest, :biggrin2: http://i39.tinypic.com/ket9gh.jpg[/IM |
