Cub Cadet 123 hard starting
 

i have a cub cadet 123. it turns over like it has a dead battery i picked up new one and still same thing what can it be? i changed starter gen an still same thing. could it be a bad selanoid? hany help would be gratly appreciated

Bad battery cables. Bad connection.

Changed the S/G with a new one? Or just another one?

How cold is the tractor? You may need to warm it up.

Several possibilities, as others have already mentioned some good advice, I would just add that you could check your ground connection(s) to make sure they are clean, as well.

its in a heated garage. i just changed a ground wire and cleaned both ends. im at a loss

ok i pulled the air cleaner off if i choke it out with my hand it turns over like it should and fires right up. if i take my hand off it turns over like it has a dead battery.

Sounds like the timing is off, and the carb is lean.

Did you use just choke without the hand over it?
sounds like a timing issue.when was this last run?

That's interesting,...... . Why use your hand and not the choke control cable? Looking in the Operator's Manual 1 084 564 R2 71, 102, 122, and 123 Tractors, looks like a fuel and carb adjustment. Is the vent hole in the gas cap clear and clean?,... because under that plastic insert you might find years worth of trash. Possible causes are choked improperly, flooded engine, defective ignition or loose wiring. Don't really list remedy for your specific starting procedures.
