PO said it hasn't run in several years though he was able to start it with ether but it wouldn't stay running. After draining the tank, I can believe it wouldn't start. Gas looked like some mixed A&W Cream Soda with Orange Kool-Aid. Only time I've seen darker gas was when I drain the tank on a pickup that had been sitting for 6-7 years or more.
The fireball when I threw about 5-6 ounces in the fire was only about a third of the size it should have been.:biggrin2:

I figured shouldn't be to tough to get it going. Clean the tank out, clean the carb, and replace the lines and fuel filter.

Hoping I can get it running so I have something to clear the rougher areas while I try and fix the hydro leak on the other 1811, otherwise it'll be a donor for the other one.

Congrats on a nice looking 1811. That one looks too nice to be an organ donor.....save it.

Well, finally got this 1811 running after getting my other one back together and hooked up to the tiller. As I thought, just needed to replace the fuel shut off valve and bushing, some fuel line and filter and put in fresh gas. Guess it won't be a donor.

Now the question-

I have it idling at about 1200 - 1250 rpm and at 1/4 - 1/3 throttle the rpms are stable at about 2400-2600. But when I go over that the rpms climb into the 5000-6000 range. Am i looking at a bad governor or an issue in the carb? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Barry

The M18's & 20's are kinda known for governor gears breaking. I have one that does the same thing that has been in the barn for a few years now. Can you adjust it or see it move at all?

That's how it starts, donor tractor. (wink, wink) Nice score.

Nice 1811.
