451 Blower
 

Hi,

Has anyone found a cure for Wet snow piling up in front of the chute and eventually blocking it?

I sprayed the inside of my blower with this stuff in the fall. It did ok. Before my last round of blowing I sprayed everything down with PAM. I also added flaps to 2 of the impeller fins to tighten up the clearance between the housing.

I used my 451 ONCE this year so far, and it was in wet, heavy, nasty snow. As long as I kept it fed good, it didn't clog. But once the snow tapered off or I'd stop and try to start again, it'd usually clog. I think it just needed more run time to "shine" itself up but I'm sure some PAM or something similar wouldn't hurt.

Shrew: I thought you posted pics when you added your impeller "extensions". Did you, or am I going crazy? I'd like to see what you did. Do you really think it helped? Maybe I'll have to do this to mine for next year because after this season, it has earned it's place in my shop with but one snow storm. :biggrin2:

I don't have any trouble at all with my blower. Yes, it has been completely blasted and repainted but I have never had a clog in the 2 years I've been using it. I never plow anymore because I hate the piles of snow. I've used it on everything from a dusting of snow to drifts a foot over the blower and also that wet heavy crap that the plow truck leaves at the end of your driveway after a good storm.

Ryan, I don't think I did. For that, I apologize! I will document better when I give it the once-over this summer. I used the roll plastic that Sam told me about. Drilled a few holes and pop riveted them on. Last I looked they were still there, but custom molded to the housing now. It was a little noisy when I first fired it up.

I actually put a couple pieces of it under the skids on my 782 blade last night to keep them from digging into the gravel so bad. I'm tempted to try them out but we only got 1". Kind of a waste of gas. :BlahBlah:

Edit: This did not work out. After 200' the round skids cut holes in the plastic. I will make wider skis for next year. Worked great at first.
