1572 diesel with broken water pump belt

what is the best way to remove drive shaft to replace belt that drives the alternator and water pump'

You will have to move the engine forward or the transmission backward. Did you run it hot before you noticed that it had broke?

I slide the engine forward. Not a bad job at all. Might be a good time to check the rag joints and drive shaft metal couplers for wear. Since you'll have it apart already, they can be replaced if worn. :beerchug:

That's not good. Hope you didn't cook it.

Is the temp gauge working? With the belt gone, the gauge probably would've pegged high pretty fast. Check it over good. Hoping you didn't crack the head.

I will check it over good, once i moved the engine ahead the belt won't be any problem, thanks again for the info. everyone.
