Kohler K341 camshaft
 

Anyone know for sure if the K341 camshaft is the same as the 10, 12, and 14 horsepower engines?

looks like it.

Just go here and plug in different tractors with the various engines and it will show.

Was just at parts tree .com myself and the 12-16hp engines have the same cam pt# listed. Didn't look at the 10s but would imagine the same pt# as well

10 thru 16 hp use the same cam.

But there are at least 3 different camshafts.

The early 10 hp had a non compression release 2 piece cam.
Second one is the compression release used in late 100s thru 1650.
Third one-generators?????

Keep in mind I only deal with garden tractor engines.

Your correct Dale. I didn't even think about the early two piece cam. I was thinking of the three "color codes". Red, white and green. I don't off the top of my head remember which is which, but they are different. IIRC, two will work fine (red and green) but there is an issue with the white one. I think it killed torque. Where's Don, he knows....:bigthink:

red was L&G , green was a industrial , red/white was the K361

So..... will all 3 work? Or is one a power killer? Maybe it was a power maker? You told me before Don, but I don't remember. :bigthink:

Thanks for all the good info. If they are the same, then I have one out of a k301 I could use if I needed.

The situation of my missing cam has changed. I had sent mine off to Brian Miller in May and as of July 5 I had lost contact with him and was getting worried. So I started this conversation and others on various forums to make an alternative plan.

As luck would have it, he contacted me on Saturday and all is well and he will be sending my parts on Monday.

Thanks for all the good feedback and I will keep this info in my mind for future projects.
