42 inch blade power angle
I have seen mentioned that some folk have used a hydraulic implement lift ram to add power angle to their blades. Because that ram is considerable shorter that those usually used for power angle I am very curious on how to accomplish this. These rams are indeed less expensive than the longer ones which might make the modification affordable. Does anyone have plans or pics on how to fabricate this? Snows on the way!!!! Thanks.

The ram has to connect closer to the pivot point of the plow, the further away from the pivot point you mount it the longer the stroke needs to be to get full movement.
|
The thing you have to watch is the fact that the ram is so much smaller. If you hit anything, it will snap/break the ram easily.

Look for something from surpluscenter.com

blade ram
Thanks for the feedback...Found the ram brackets for $85 on line and asked them what the diameter is on the bracket rods that support the ram. The prices are decent on that ram source. Am thinking that 1.5" diameter with a 7 inch stroke might do the job....

Blade ram cylinder
I was in contact with the surplus center and they need more information than my limited knowledge can provide them.
Would one of you nice folks with a ram please measure it fully retracted from hole to hole center? One person on the forum stated that he used a 1.5" bore and a 7 inch stroke so I will just go with that. Thanks much. |
I don't know if it will work on a 42" but on my Haban 54" blade I got a cylinder from a John Deere grain head, it's the cylinder that raises the reel. So far it works good and only cost $ 10 plus the hoses.

Great...is there any way you can measure the hole to hole centers with it fully extended? Thanks

Scratch that 13.25, I'm glad I double checked.
Compressed length C/C 13" Extended length C/C 20-3/8" Hole on rod end is 1/2" dia Hole on cylinder end is 3/4" dia |
