Work Benches
I am going to finish my work bench this week, I hope. I have the frame done, just need to order the top. I am going with 1/4" or 3/8" plate depending on cost. Let's see some pictures of your work benches.

There's so much junk piled on mine there is no way you can see the bench!

All mine are piled up like John's.....but one is simply a household door with the hinges screwed to the wall and two 2x4s for legs.

I plan on redoing the interior of my pole barn this summer. I need ideas! My Dad built this barn in 1973 and rigged up what he called a "temporary" work bench. It is still there! I bought the place from the estate a few years back and want to make the barn a very practical Cub Cadet fun center..including a....Cub Cadet themed bar!

I have two built from 2x4 frame, MDF on top with sheetmetal on top of the MDF.

Mines a mess too! Need the clean up and put some stuff away! I'm bad about that. I'd go with 1/4" plate. 1/8" if you want. That's my 2cts!

Mine is cluttered as well, but I'm not ashamed. :biggrin2: The top is made from solid core doors I "salvaged" from a local school being renovated (I pulled them from the dumpster before I left the jobsite). It is very solid and takes a beating without ringing like pounding on a metal table. I have a separate 2'x3' piece of 1/4" steel I set on sawhorses for welding projects. I would end up setting the clutter on fire if my main work bench was also my welding table.

Mine has a solid core door for the top. I also added 1/4" Masonite on top of that. When the hardboard gets nasty enough, I'll replace it. Works well.
