Removing Rusted Nuts With a Candle
Have not tried this but thought I'd pass it along. We never have rusty nuts on Cubs. :biggrin2:

I am definitely going to try this. Sure hope it works especially on steering wheel nuts.
|
I've done it quite a few times and learned it from a machinist friend years ago, It's worked more times than not.
|
Looks like a good idea!

WOW! Thanks for sharing such a great trick Sam!

I use beeswax in the shop, It works well on exhaust manifold studs that don't want to turn most of the time.
The thing about beeswax, is it withstands a higher heat than penetrating oil. You can heat it up with a torch (studs/bolts) and keep adding the wax, reheat and do it again. You can get the studs too hot and they will ignite the wax, but no problem really. It is a high temp lube sort to speak. It is an old steel mill trick. |
:bigthink: interesting. Never heard of that before. Thanks for the link.

We'll have to give this a try at work, working on these old tractors we've found plenty nuts that wouldn't budge.

BTDT,wax on the head bolts on the old kohlers it works on well, remember wax on then wax off.
