1050 went to narrow wheels
 

I set up my 1050 for garden duty. I hate plowing with big fat tires. Sure, it floats a bit better, but the skinnies fit the dead furrow so much better and I think gives you better ability to steer within the furrow. I have 6-12's on the rear only because they were sitting and the tread works ok for plowing. I want to go to 8.50 lugs on the rear.

What do you think? Don't make fun of my rusty tractor, lol. I'll paint the rims before I mount up a set of tri-ribs.

On a second note, why is it that the simplest of things take so dang long?!?!? Took me nearly all day to take those spindles off a QL I have. I just wanted to easily put the narrow tires on the front, and I don't care that the spindle is the 3/4" one. I'm not carrying weight on the front, so NBD to me. The king pins were stuck on the QL, and one on the 1050!! Oh well. It's done now! And the front end on the 1050 is lubed up good and working well. Even turns stop to stop!! I'm happy, but I'll be happier when the rims are painted and a new set of tri-ribs installed!

Why did you put your wheels on upside-down and backwards :bigthink:

I would personally have put the 23s on the front and then mid mounted the plow, that way your dead furrow would never interfere with the hydraulic thermostat you installed from your old 1923 VW bug.

But hey... whatever

I thought of that, but I don't think the ratio would be right with the front wheel assist I added if I put 23's on the front. I'd end up pulling the plow instead of pushing it. That never works. Evertime you push from behind while plowing deep, you end up with little plow pieces everywhere. :biggrin2:

You could have put bushings in the front rims for 1''I had a bunch of Brinly yellow wheels with 1'' bushings that would fit older rims.

I'd rather have a bearing. Besides, the 3/4" spindles are NBD with only a K series single under the hood. I'll keep that in mind though!

Not bad! Truthfully I think the three quarter inch front spindles would carry about as much of a load the one inch spindles would using implements. I like seeing the land plough set ups! One day I'll dig in to the action!

Id like to see a on-land hitch setup. Think it would be cool and more fun to operate

I've never ran a land hitch plow, but I don't think I'd like them. Semi-mounted is the way to go IMO. Then again, that's all I've ever ran. Looks like it would be too easy to get off coarse with a land hitch. Plus, with semi-mounted, the plow pulls down on the tractor adding traction. I could pull a semi-mounted 6 bottom out of the ground, turn around and put it back down, and make it look like it was done with a single plow. All the plows going in one after another instead of all at once. I love plowing. But..... no one does it very often anymore, so I just enjoy my single bottom on my Cub. :biggrin2:
