LT2 NR92 drive problem
 

It's the hydrostatic version. I'm not sure if this model number is a UK variation only, but I have a drive problem.

After the tractor has been in park, even if only for a couple of minutes, when I disengage the brake and press the peddle to go forwards, I can feel slight juddering and hear the belt spin, but it don't move. Same applies to reverse also. If I pump the pedal either forwards or reverse, it does start moving after 5 seconds or so.

I think it could either be a stuck brake pad or perhaps a slack belt, however once it's moving, I have no issues with speed.

That tractor was bought brand new from a registered cub cadet dealership last month. I would take it back to the dealer for them to take a look, but it will cost me the best part of £50 to do this due to living on an island and needing to use a ferry. If I can, I would rather try and fix it myself and save my money.

Would this void my warranty? I have worked on lawn tractors before, but never a hydrostatic version. Before I start stripping all the guards off the cutting deck, can anybody advise on where exactly I should be looking on this machine please? Is it much different to a transmatic lawn tractor underneath?

From the sound of things, I think you are right. I would venture to say something needs lubricating, or some adjustment needs to be made.

How much did the mower cost? I might ask the dealer could they send someone out to adjust it.

Mower cost £2200. Dealer won't send somebody out. Because it came with 3 year warranty, I asked them when I bought it and they said I would have to return it to them for any repairs. If it is something I could remedy myself, I'd rather save my money if possible.

So do you think it's most likely the brake sticking or is it the belt too loose? If I do the work myself, will I void my warranty?

I tried pulling up a Parts Diagram at the Cub Cadet site here in the States. It stated no such model found. So, I can only venture and educated guess. It "sounds" like the brake is hanging up, perhaps not allowing the belt to travel freely, hence the noise from the belt.

I do not know the laws in Scotland, but here in the States, if a company finds out that and "unauthorized" repair was done, they may go as far as voiding the warranty, depending on the situation and extent of repairs.

I will have a look at the brakes this weekend and see if that is the problem. If I just need to add a bit of grease or tighten a nut, I will probably get away with doing it myself. But if that doesn't help, I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and take it back because I don't want to invalidate a 3 year warranty on a brand new mower.
I have had a look around on cub cadet sites and it is advised to check and adjust/tighten nuts periodically if they come loose from vibration. I can't see how this repair would be much different. I don't understand why a machine this new would have loosened its nuts though, unless they weren't tight enough to begin with. It's been running less than 15 hours in total.

Anything is possible, but I am guessing more along the lines of a Linkage Rod that is out of adjustment, or needs lubrication.

I was on a European Site and they are asking for a 11 digit model number. What is your Model Number as seen on the Chassis Tag..???
