GT2186 starter problems?
 

I have a GT2186 and it started to have a problem when you push the brake pedal in it won't start and it sometimes take maybe 6-8 times till it starts. I was thinking it could be the switch on the parking brake, any help would be helpful, thanks in advance

I have several mowers with engines just like yours. You could have battery problems or connection problems. You could need to do the starter relay upgrade. Here is a link.

2 things could be happening comes to mind.
One, could be the brake safety switch is defective and needs replaced.
Two, could be the ignition switch is failing and needs replaced.
I suggest you check continuity of the brake safety switch first with a meter or test light.
If ok then check the Ign switch for power to the solenoid activation wire.
Report back with your results.

the brake lever was not always hitting the switch, we had to take it apart and make a bracket and fasten it on the brake lever and now it starts like new
