GT 3200 differential lock problem

This mower is new to me but previously used. I inherited it from a person who died so obviously can't ask any questions about it. It works and mows pretty good but I noticed one feature isn't quite right and that's the differential lock pedal. It's always to the floor and not engaged. I checked the diff lock lever and it seems to click into position when I move it by hand, so that doesn't seem like a problem to me but I could be wrong. The cable itself doesn't seem damaged but it does appear to be too long or something because the pedal barely starts engaging it when it's to the floor, even after adjusting the little adjustment screw thingy. Any ideas on how I would go about diagnosing the actual issue and fixing it? If I need a new cable, any idea where I might get one? :bigthink:

Is it normal for them to just kinda stretch a couple inches? Seems odd

No, they dont stretch. There should be a spring on one side however, that's what keeps the pedal up. My guess is something is bent or not connected correctly if the cable is in tact. Either that or someone installed a incorrect cable. Check that the bracket that holds the cable is tight and not bent opposite of the spring end. I'm assuming the actual lock lever is not bent and in correct rest position.
