18HP twin cylinder into a narrow frame?
Im sure this has been tried if not done, but I am starting to install a loader onto my 123 and my buddy has an 1810 he started it for me and wow how smooth that twin is...
how hard would it be to fit one of those engines into a 123? |
With a Cutting Torch, metal, a Welder, fabrication, and some tools, I see no problem.

And hanging a loader on a Garden tractor is borderline abuse, but many people do it, but are careful understanding a GT was not designed for loader or a back hoe so caution is exercised during usage. Hell, you can set a small block Chebbie in front, and it would be a conversation piece, but the usability is diminished hugely. why would I have to cut into the frame, cant the opposed horizontal twin sit on top of the frame rails? then make an adapter to the hydro drive shaft...
?? |

Not worried about driveline geometry. I can make a little drive shaft with a little universal joint at each had no problem.
The other option is to put a pulley on the engine and another one on the drive shaft with a pillow block bearing for support. I'd rather do that than alter the frame. I was so impressed with the smoothness of that engine on the 1810... I read up on those engines and they're good but I did read that the Onan P series engines might be even a little bit better especially since they have more torque down low. |
