Looking at a Magnum 18
Considering a Magnum 18 for may 782 that had a rod failure. Is the engine a direct swap in. And is there a difference in wiring up to my stock harness. When inspecting a possible engine for replacement, what should I be looking at to make sure I've got a good engine to swap in.
|
The M-18 is a Plug & Play swap for the KT-17, EXCEPT for a small wiring change. There are two different avenues to pursue on the wiring, and I have done both. It makes a difference in the version of 782's wiring harness. Either way, I have the diagrams and the procedures for both versions.
As far as general motor conditions, the obvious things to look for, ie: does it burn oil, does it leak oil, etc. |
Another somewhat common flaw with the Magnums was the governor gear and it's pin. They are a stouter engine as compared to the KT17, even though they are quite similiar.
Be aware that the horizontal shaft M15 used in the 1541 is the exact same engine except for the carburetor. |
The guy selling this Magnum says it does not smoke or use oil.

Out with the KT17 in with the magnum 18
Does anyone have any wiring diagram alteration that they could send me, for swapping the magnum 18 in place of the old KT17

It matters which version of 782 you have NOT the KT-17.
What is your Chassis Serial Number ?? |
