Original deck question
Hello OCC,
How bad can the geared pullys be worn before it has an adverse affect on the timmed belt? My driven gear is worn badly, and I want to purchase a NEW timmed belt. BUT I do not want to ruin the belt. The driving gear looks awsome. Only the R.H. gear is worn???? |
I would not go too much more worn than this one..
http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...s/100_0470.jpg I messed with it a bit before I took the deck apart, and it kept OK timing. I would be very carefull on hitting stuff in your lawn with it though it will jump a lot easier. The bad thing is I have seen good ones and NOS ones go for $80 plus for one. Is that price worth it? guess if you want a good solid deck that bad. |
Thanks Jaybrd,
Yes my driven pully is at least as bad as the one in your photo. Looks like you have a replacement ready to go on? Yes that is what I'm afraid of $80 puckers the backside pretty good. What even more scary is I'll find a good one after, for cheep. Most ebay auction photos are so far away I can not see the teeth so I wont bid. I bought a complete deck and the gears are margin-ally better than yours. I'm feeling your pain on the No-Start thing in your other post. I ran my Brand-X W/K532 out of fuel yesterday and had a it of a hard time starting. I left it in the yard until tonight. It backfired 2 times and finally fired on the rh bank. I putted the tractor around to the shed on 1 cylinder. Hopefully :Bowdown2: I just fouled the plug. Good news, that no ugly noise was comming from the engine just down on power. AUGGGHHHH!!! just the thought of a broken rod makes me shiver..... Buying a new pair of plugs and installing before snow plowing season starts seems like a good idea anyway. I might buy one range hotter for winter. Anyway thank you for taking the time to post the photo! Later..... |
