I'm new two!!

Well, been luring for a little while, thought I joined back in June when I got my FIRST IH! I have been very busy so I haven't taken the time to get things straightened out. I am now joined and ready to attempt to fit in. Dad had a 128 bought new in 73, but traded it in 77 for a yazoo( what a pile, helpless on anything more than a ant hill). I got the fever when I found the IH Red sight for tractors, wish I could justify a 1256 :bigthink:, and have about .7 acres to mow. Been paying some on to cut it due to working daylight to dark the last few years. With the slow down in construction, I do bobcat, backhoe dozer work, I now find I have time to mow and nothing but a 20" Honda pusher to mow with. So with a love for IH, a history of cub cadets in the family, a "need" for a mower, and no desire to spend a boatload of cash on a real mower ( commercial zero turn or walk behind), a real cub seemed like the perfect choice in a yard control device.:Cub6:
With that I found several on craigs list, most narrrow frame, but found a 149 that looked good and seemed right for the price. After looking at it, and loading it on the trailer it was mine!! It came with a 44 C deck instead of original, but it was just a mower and not a trailer queen, so I was ok with a later model deck. With the power lift and all I was stoked, now the work begins. The plan was to get it all going this winter and be ready for that first blade of grass that needs to be whacked. So with that plan, nothing had happened other than a front wheel bolt and battery to get it going. Runs ok but it's not the original engine and I am thinking it might need to come down just to make sure everything is ok inside. Needs a pto clutch but he gave me a used one, just have to put it on. Deck needs blades and belts, maybe a few bearings to freshen it up. No pto rod, regulator, steering will need a rebuild to tighten it up, thought the trunion was in need, but after pulling the cover and a good washin, I think it just needs a tightening up of the linkage, spring all looked ok, but time will tell. Does need a fan, paint is a hodge podge of different colors, all close but not the same shades. It is looking more like a resto instead of a fix and use. With that, I found a 109 that I thought I would use for a parts machine, but it's too nice to kill, so now I have TWO projects!! The 12 year old wants the 109 for her, so she will have to help on it, time will tell how long that lasts! Sorry this is so long, I will try to get some pics on, girls are down stairs beating out some rock band so it might be a little while. There will be many questions coming so I hope I'm not too much of a pain. Thanks for a great site!! :beerchug: Randi
