I bought it from the original owner and it has been garage kept it's entire life. The tractor was only used as a mower up until last year when the engine lost compression, a test today showed it at only 30psi. The owners son, who makes his living repairing marine engines, scoped the cylinder and said the piston and cylinder look good, it is suspected there is a valve issue causing the problem. I don't know much about these cast iron 8hp Kolher engines, so a little research is in order before I tear into it.

I actually found it by complete accident. The owners son responded to my Craigslist ad looking for old chainsaws and I caught a glimpse of the tractor, under a pile of random "junk", while I was there. My dad had owned a similar tractor when I was a kid, I think dad's was a 1000 in very worn out condition, so I asked a couple questions. Here it is about two weeks later and now it is mine. I want to get the stock 8hp running again, after all it is the 8hp engine that makes the tractor what it is, but I do still have the 10hp off dad's tractor.

It has turned out to be 100% complete, from what I can tell. The only question I have is on the "control panel" between your legs. There is a slot labeled "high" and "low", should there be a lever there? Is it a option this tractor may not have had?
