You do realize they are only $35 new right? You also need the plate that the bar connects to too.

Go about 3/4 of the way down on the page.

3 point parts

If you still want to make one, the bar stock is 7/16" thick x 1-3/8" wide x 25-9/16" long. The holes are 24-1/4" apart on center. One hole is 49/64" id. and the other is 41/64" id. The bushing that goes on the bolt and in the large hole is 33/64" id. x 3/4" od. x 1/2" long.

Actually the lift bar is only $22 here at one of the site sponsors. It's the 4th item down.

Here is a drawing of the lift bar. I always make them because I have the metal.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
