Default Well... where to begin...

Hey. My name is Dave. I have been a long time lurker, first time poster, as they say. I'm hoping to use this forum as another essential tool in the ol' box --- maybe pitch in my .02 when it seems appropriate. Seeing as you all are the experts, though, I don't think I'll be spending those pennies anytime soon.

So, spring's finally sprung here in northern MN, and yesterday I took the Cub out of the shed. Back story is as follows: I bought this old unit last spring as a father/son sorta 'restoration' project. As it turns out, we used the ole girl for much of the summer and didn't really get around to starting the project... so this year is the year!

Hmmmm... looking back on that, doesn't really seem like a 'back story', per se. Nor a front story. It's really not a story at all, just a lame anecdote.

But I digress. What we purchased was a Cub 100 with a mower deck. There was issues with the starter/generator, so the previous owner was ready to move on. I'm an electrician, so this didn't scare me none. 200$ and a trailer ride later, my boy and me have our project.

I have some basic questions regarding paint and belts for you folks --- probably some other stuff, too --- but I'll ask those under the forum headings that address those issues. Until that time, I'll just say 'hi' and thanks for keeping this awesome resource viable.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
