KT-17 has points and coil ignition and is horizontal shaft. KT-17 series I has a low-pressure oil pump and spray-lubed rod bearings. The Series II is full pressure lube. The MV-18 is a vertical shaft engine with magneto ignition and full pressure lube.

Thanks Matt after posting the question I did a search and found that subject had been beat to death
 The reason I asked was to determine whether to swap out motors in 1811 since I cant find a good used m18 without breaking the bank
