Default Pull start question

Just saw crossing crowns thread on his "pull start k241" in his O. So here's my question. Does he have the rare pull start blower housing on it from the k161 that would have come with the O? Or was there an option on the 100 for it to be a recoil start? But then again the 70 and 100 were direct drive so no drive pulley needed. I've just never seen one. I have a k 181 pull start but never looked at the guts of the recoil. I have an O with no motor but have the 181 and Extra O oil pan which is why I'm asking because it would be cool to put that in but thinking that recoil is a differet one than I have.

Stop dreaming as the pull start on that is a Kohler one, not a Fairbanks Morse one.

I know that some are aware of the pull start 70-71-72. It has a "coffin plate" in front that offsets the old fairbanks starter to the right side of the pto clutch in front. later ones had a angle bracket crutch to reinforce it from a head stud.

usually they broke as they only used 4 of the 5 original mounting screws as on the original cadet.

caveat: 7hp engines only!

I have a 70 recoil setup for quite some time and the Urschels borrowed it to have some fabbed. I think they named it the "coffin" plate for the first time.

Aren't recoil pedestals the most perfect pedestals ever? NO battery acid ever.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
