Default Kohler M18 remote oil filter lines

I probably could do a search of the forum and find my answer, I did a search and found a whole bunch of posts containing "remote oil lines", and I don't have time to read every one of them searching for my answer... so here we go.

Can the remote hoses be replaced separately? I seem to only be finding the whole remote oil filter kits for sale. I had to remove the oil lines to get the side covers off to clean up my engine and they were a bear to get off, now when I put them back on they split (brittle) so I would like to replace just the rubber if I can.

Short answer: no.
Can you cut the band clamp and replace the rubber with oil rated hose and clamps? Sure, if you trust it will hold. Up to you. Just make sure to get (usually redish/pink) oil rated hose. Fuel line will not work, and heater hose certainly will not. Must be OIL RATED.

I see hoses for sale (part number 5232611S) that have threaded fittings on both ends. Mine is threaded on the end to the filter, and slides over a tube on the other end at the engine with a hose clamp. I don't see any way to replace just the rubber, so I guess I'm just looking for the part number for that hose.

I custom made oil lines for an M-20 four years ago. Worked out well and doing fine.

I had lines made for a mag 18 by a local hose shop, they had threaded fittings on both ends.

I took my hose to Napa, and they made me a new one. Wasn't too pricey either...

Default related question

I am working on a 1811 and the remote filter lines don't leak. However where the steel switch to rubber the hoses will spin on the steel is that normal? Can you buy an adapter that will replace the line adapter at the motor and change to a spin on filter? I did have a m18 on another tractor that was this way, it should be possible to find a motor side panel or out it out for the filter. Would this cause a cooling issue because of the change?

Pretty sure the filter won't clear the frame rail. Otherwise, why would they have used the remote filter.
As long as you don't have any leaks, don't worry about the hose spinning where it meets the steel line. It's not a very tight crimp.

I'm sure your right on the frame rail. Didn't think of that when the engine is out on the bench. Good thing is it is easy to inspect for leaks and not real hard project to change hoses if they do leak. Thanks for the advise.

Just saw this post but I installed the block mounted oil filter adapter on one of my 782s. I notched the engine tins for clearance (which as I remember was just the piece that covers the head; I don't recall any change to the forward piece). It makes fitting the side panel snug but it will clear. I've been using the Napa equivalent filter (I can't recall the number). I use one of those 3-finger type filter wrenches to unscrew it. Pulling the filter off obviously requires a piece of cardboard to funnel the oil away.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
