I have to say thats one awesome rig and plow combo. Really jealous. It looks great. I also have a question. Isnt it better to always run the throttle wide open to allow maximum flow to the pump or does it make any difference? Im asking because thats what Ive always been told, but if I dont need all the throttle, and can save a little on the fuel, id be happy to wind her down a bit. Thanks

I didn't hear or feel any difference in hydraulic performance at that engine speed compared to full throttle. I was basing the throttle off of what Adrian told me he ran it at when plowing.

The cooling airflow for both the engine and trans is directly proportional to the engine speed, so with the load remaining constant, it should run cooler at full throttle.

This is the coolest running diesel I have seen or heard about. On the gauge it will maintain right at the first mark from the left, until the debris screen on the radiator gets filled with Chaff, then it starts to creep up about the halfway mark or a bit more. I could see the trans maybe needing more cooling under a good load, but this thing never grunted with the plow and maintained a nice even RPM. But next time around I will try at full throttle, just seemed a bit overkill is all I was thinking.

I've got my brother in law's garden to plow up. About three times the size of mine. Will advise once I get it finished. Just hoping for some decent warm weather to plow in but got more rain coming for the rest of the weekend.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
