Why do you want to paint it? That is a really nice-looking original tractor! It's only original once. You would probably be surprised what some rubbing compound and wax will do for it.

Thanks for all the kind words and comments, I have been looking for one I could afford for a long while.I know what your saying Matt,and I could not really do paint till it warms up in the spring anyway.I will concentrate on getting the mechanicals in good shape ,but I keep seeing that shiney 982 at the top of the home page lol.

Well I did break down and paint...the battery box,I had to weld up the tunion and replace the springs and the the end caps.I adjusted the neutal and it drives along nice and steady now.The battery box was rusted a little on the bottom so I did a quick clean up and rattle canned it for now to stop the rust.I will have to wait till spring to decide on a full on restore.Thanks again for the nice posts.
