Default 680 puller project pregress, pics

Well got the hydro out and cleaned it up some.

The manual from the108 is in, had to remove front brake levers from tranny and grind the lugs for them down a bit as they were hitting the 680s break cross over lever. Also had to drill the paint out of the forward mounting holes on the frame as the front of the hydro mounts further back.

Next will get a clutch assembly mounted and linkage made. Will need tio sit a motor in there to line it all up.

So got a good start, the tranny will then come back out and be built for pulling and painted, and needs a new shifter.

The battery will move up front where the gas tank is and a Smaller gas tank will mount next to it. Stuck the hydro drive shaft in to see if it clears.

A few pics of my progress:

My first IH Cub tranny in the newer super cub frame. This tractor will likely be 20 HP stock class, that is why the extra wide frame for the V-twin.

Still gotta make weight brackets, and wheelie bars too. Likely buy the alum wheelie bars.

Turns out the rear fenders are from a 1200, 1000 or 108. didn't think they looked just right. I bought this 680 for $50.00 with no motor and have a good hydro to sell or use the carrier and axles, and brakes calipers, so i can't complain They are better and fit the IH Cub manual trannys.

Nice looking project. Although if you are using a 680 frame, then it isn't a "super" frame. It is a regualr GT frame. But it would be awesome to have a newer geardrive gt. CCC made a 1806 that was a geardrive with a mag18 in it, but it had the aluminum rear in it, It would be a killer tractor if the rear was replaced with the older cast rear which is basically what you did. Great job, and keep up the good work!

Same basic extra wide frame as super cub. I plan to build one out of a 1860 or similar GT. This 680 is a learning/experimental project

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
