Compatability of pto's: Type A vs. Type B
Well, I won a pto on an EPay auction and the picture showed that it was a type B, but when it arrived it came as a type A. I have a 129 that is in need of one. So, is this compatible or not and if not, then can some parts be used from one to the other? Thanks for your assistance--I know very little about these different ptos....

First, let me say, that I have no personal experience in this situation.
  AFAIK....The only differences between the two types is the "brake mechanism" that was required by the Gov't on Type B (or WF). Functionally, they both work & mount the same. You may have to do some slight fabrication to the button that engages / disengages to the clutch.

The parts will change from one to another on the clutch itself.
 My 169 had the brake style on it when i got it and i changed it to the older style. Everything is pretty much the same except the center button. But either one will fit. if you are using the brake you need to have the pulley(19) that has the 3 notches around the outside for the disk(item 13) to fit into.

I have only had one,(169) and i converted it back to the old style. I had to change the rockshaft, ( item 12) It could have been modified but Chris at Cub Classics had one so i just swapped them out. The way the serial #s show it, the later 149's had the brake style.

Thanks guys A LOT!! The EPay Seller said that it was recently rebuilt and it looks very solid, so I may just put it on and see how things work out, but if I am forced to change the front pto swing arm (part #12) then I may use parts off of it to rework the old one. I have little to no experience with these, so all of your advice and comments are very welcomed!!!
