super cub
hi all, lookin for a little info.... my 2082 runs , drives , and purrrrs , like a champ,,,,,but......when you shut it off and go to restart it ,, it backfires ,,,bad.....once it has cooled off it starts fine. it only backfires 1 time when restarted when warmed up. im afraid im gonna burn a valve. how do i fix this? thanks for your time ... scott

Scott you might want to look at the carb and see if it has a wire going to it. If it does, then it has a fuel shut off. If it has it, then I would try to shut if off at half throttle or more. That should burn most of the fuel out of the carb and blow any extra fuel out of the muffler. I know this goes against general logic, but all the new motors recommend doing this to prevent backfires and it works. I think of it this way; the oil pumps are mechanical and still pump oil as long as the engine is turning. I don't see where shutting it off at a semi-high speeds causes any damage.
