Decided to try out the 1810 today and I managed to break it in about 5min! I was mowing around a tree line just playing around, when the deck wouldn't fit between two trees I went to back up and BAM BAM BAM! The tractor quit pulling and I shut it down.
Looked up underneath of it and found a few pieces of an exploded flex joint and a ball bushing that was pretty chewed up. I also had some hydro fluid leaking but couldn't see where it was coming from ( I'm really hoping that it just got the filter). Looks like its headed to the shop tomorrow. Any ideas on what I should look at fixing or upgrading while I have it torn down? Really hoping that I didn't tear up anything overly expensive..at least I got to enjoy it for 5min!!

Haha! The shop I'm referring to is the place that I bought it from last Friday..lol. They have parts in stock and hopefully will be good to me considering I only used it 5min.
It's really no big deal, this kind of stuff happens. I just go don't looking it over and my guess is that the rear flex joint gave way or the cast t-shaped that pins to the hydro broke (there was still a piece of it bolted to it). I also found that ball bushing and pieces of the cooling fan. Oh well, it's raining so I won't be mowing grass anytime soon anyways. The tractor pulled like a train while it was working though!! |

HA! It did..blew chucks all over the place! Scared the be-geezes out of me, i guess when the fan shattered it tossed pieces all over the inside of the frame and its cover. It made all kinds of racket.
It wasnt the noise that scared me..it was knowing that something exploded right under my crotch! Thank god for it being made "like it used to be" pretty sure a plastic cover coundnt have kept it contained. Looks like some drive shaft loops are in the works incase it ever happens again..hopefully that will keep it from ripping apart the fan. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
