Default Super Hydro Units

Could somebody explain the difference in a super hydro unit and a standard GT hydro unit. It looks like the only visible difference is the splined input shaft. Is there a gearing change for the larger size tires on a super or do they have a different mount pattern?

Gearing changes to accommodate the larger tires on the supers.

There are no gears inside a hydro pump. there for no way to change the "gearing". The differences are as follows.

The input shaft is splined.

The out put shaft has a different tooth count on it so it will mesh with the different reduction gear in the reduction housing.


I have a thread on here somewhere with pictures of one that I disassembled. If you can't find it let me know.

I had the complete rear end and hydro unit in my mind. Yep your right no gears in the hydro unit itself. Think I need my nap.

Here it is. Good luck That pump is not a "super" pump, it was from an 1811 if I remember correctly. I am doing a cast iron conversion on the 1872 that is for.

Sort of. I have the pump back together and mounted on the rear. Now I have decided to put a fine spline set up in it. I am looking for a gear drive rear to do the same with. I am hoping to find one soon. I have never set a rear end up before. So my buddy said he would show me on one , then watch as I do the other. I have all the fine spline setups a person would ever need, just looking for the gear drive.

The 1872 has been put on hold for a while anyways. I have something else I have been working on getting parts for. I like a gear drive for mowing so I am going to do something no one else has . When it starts coming together I will start taking pictures and post them.
